Russian MFA on allowing trips to the RA by internal passports

The  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia is considering the proposal on allowing entry into the Republic of Armenia by internal passports. This proposal currently being addressed affects mutual trips of citizens of RA and RF.

Such a novelty will be very advantageous for the development of tourism in Armenia as well as for Russian nationals that will be able to visit any of Armenian resorts, said the Head of “Good-neighbourliness” International Relations Development Programmes Foundation Yuri Moskovski.

“There are about 1.5 million of Armenians in Russia, but the majority of them doesn’t have passports (for overseas trips). Generally, touristic stream to Armenia will increase due to ethnic Armenians residing in Russia but other citizens of Russia will gladly begin visiting Armenia on internal passports,” – said Yuri Moskovski to RUSARMINFO.

Permission for visiting Armenia on internal passports can be considered as a development of internal tourism within Eurasian Economic Union, said the expert.

“In case of adoption of the appropriate document Russia will have to reconsider the rules of registration of entry and exit of its own citizens, but this matter is not worth suspending the whole procedure,” – Moskovski said.
