Who has the right to participate in elections except persons under 18 years of age

Article 2 of the Electoral Code stipulates general suffrage.

1.During the National Assembly elections citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have reached the age of 18 on the Election Day (hereinafter referred to as Election Day) shall have the right to vote.

2.During the elections of local self-government bodies the right to vote in the population register of the municipality, who have reached the age of 18 on the voting day, is granted to:

1) citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have been on the registry for at least 6 months prior to Election Day;

2) citizens of the Republic of Armenia not registered at least six months prior to the voting day who have been registered with the municipality due to circumstances of demobilization from compulsory military service or release from serving the sentence of imprisonment

3) stateless persons of the Republic of Armenia, who have been registered for at least one year prior to the voting day (hereinafter referred to as stateless voter).

3.During the elections of local self-government bodies the rights and obligations prescribed by the Electoral Code for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia shall also apply to the persons having the right to vote during the elections of local self-government bodies:

4.Persons recognized incapacitated by a court decision that has entered into legal force, as well as those convicted by a court sentence that has entered into legal force for intentionally committed grave and especially grave crimes and serving their sentences shall not be entitled to elect.
