Liability and fines for election violations
Article 154 of the RA Criminal Code stipulates penalties for violating the secrecy of the vote.
- Forcing a voter to announce the result of voting in order to violate the secrecy of voting, checking the ballot paper in order to reveal the results of voting, entering the voting booth (room), as well as other violation of the secrecy of voting – is punishable by a fine of AMD 500.000-700.000, or imprisonment of 2-5 years.
- For third parties (except for the person assisting the voter), voting in a foreseeable manner, as well as violation for mercenary purposes through publication of information obtained by photographing or videotaping the document revealing the secrecy of voting, is punishable by a fine of AMD 100,000-200,000.
Article 153 of the Criminal Code establishes penalties for voting more than once or in place of another person. - Voting more than once or instead of another person in any other way – shall be punished by imprisonment of 2 to 5 years with or without deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for 1 to 3 years.
- The same act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or by an organized group shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of 4 to 6 years with or without deprivation of the right to hold certain offices or to engage in certain activities for a term of 1-3 years.
