When selecting the language of instruction for children of foreign citizens or stateless persons:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If the child is a citizen of a foreign<\/a> country the language of instruction is selected by the parent or parents, or legal representatives. If the child is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia where the first two years the child has studied in a foreign country, then on return to the Republic of Armenia learning continues in the Armenian language. If the training and\/or study in a foreign country lasted minimum six years, then on return to the Republic of Armenia, training continues in the same foreign language.<\/span><\/p>\n

In all other cases children who are the Republic of Armenia citizens, studying in another country in the Russian, or another foreign language upon return to the RA may till the end of the academic year continue their studies in Russian or another foreign language. Should they return within an academic year, for example at half term, then they are permitted to carry on with their studies in Russian, or another foreign language till the end of the following academic year. These rules are subject to; upon the expiration of the agreed period the student(s) must have enough base in the Armenian language to be transferred to a class where the studies are conducted in the Armenian language.<\/span><\/p>\n

Higher education for foreigners is subject to tuition and university fees. For the citizens of the RA, the government provides a number of free places in the higher education institutions. Admission requirements in higher educational institutions:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Foreign nationals who have the appropriate level of education and\/or the eight-year standard level of school education may enroll in vocational schools. Foreign nationals who have education corresponding to the standard level of education, and in some cases, an eight-year standard level of school education can enroll in secondary special educational institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The higher education institutions enroll those foreign citizens who have standard secondary education and appropriate vocational level of education in the Republic of Armenia. To study in institutions of higher education under an individual plan, a foreign citizen must have a bachelor’s degree. There are cases when a foreigner does not speak the Armenian and\/or the Russian languages. In such cases, the foreign citizen must enroll in an access course of higher education. An access course in universities in the Republic of Armenia lasts one year.<\/span><\/p>\n

During this year the foreign national must pass the Armenian language test, get acquainted with the basic provisions of the RA Constitution, pass another foreign language, taking into account their first education and one subject in view of their chosen specialization, such as history, mathematics, chemistry, physics, or other. After an access course, foreign citizens sit for exams for admission to the university in equal footing as the citizens of the RA. Obviously, should they fail entry exams, they will not be enrolled in that academic year.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for admission of foreigners to study for Doctorate in the Republic of Armenia they must have a master’s degree in any chosen subject. Except when entering the medical, or research postgraduate courses foreign citizens must have a master\u2019s degree, medical degree, with experience of at least two years in a medical facility, or clinical specialization with experience of at least two years. Internships and training courses for Doctorate degrees in the RA universities have no age restrictions for foreigners. The documents necessary for the provision of education to foreigners in the Republic of Armenia should be provided by public authorities of the foreign state through the Republic of Armenia Embassy, in the management of external relations at The Ministry of the Science and Education of the Republic of Armenia.<\/span><\/p>\n
