Military service for the citizens of Armenia who have attained the age of 27

In early March RA National Assembly proposed an initiative on a provision of privileges to citizens who have not passed mandatory military service. According to the draft law, citizens of the Republic of Armenia who has attained the age of 27 and has not passed compulsory military service until 1st of May 2017 can be released from criminal prosecution, provided mandatory payments to the state budget are made.

We would like to remind that latest amendment to the law provides that only the persons who attained the age of 27 until 1st of May 2015 are entitled to release from criminal prosecution. Currently, persons who reached 27 after 1st of May 2015 are subject to criminal liability.

This amendment is supposed to be adopted by the end of March 2017.
